Obscurity Knocks

creeper-face.jpgYes, things are abuzz here at my secret underwater headquarters. I’m off to Charlotte in a few days, and just wrapping up a few things before I go. First, there will be a big announcement at the DC panel this Saturday at HeroesCon. Yep, we’re gonna spill the beans on the new book I’m drawing. Any guesses? C’mon, put down that sandwich and add to the comments!

Second, I will be doing commissioned sketches all weekend, and I’ll also have a binder of sketch artwork for sale. You can check out a bunch of the pieces in the “Sketch” section of the gallery. There are also a few goofy pieces that haven’t shown up online, so if you’re at the show please drop by. Just don’t stand too close, as it triggers my deadly ninja skills.

The Man Who Sold The World

running.jpgRun, don’t walk! All of my Dr. Thirteen artwork is now available at Splash Page Art! Sure, you could spend that money on a new iPhone, college tuition, medicine, or baby food… but you’d be a fool to pass up this opportunity to own a Chiang original! I could retire from the game tomorrow, and your investment would skyrocket! I’m not a businessman, I’m a BUSINESS, man!

All Cats Are Grey?

Black Cat and Spider-ManAs I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be at HeroesCon again this year. Shelton Drum and his crew are honestly some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, the fans are great, and I’m particularly looking forward to hanging out with my friend Dusty Harbin. This year’s themes for the program book are the Silver Surfer and, you guessed it, black costume Spider-Man. Here’s my initial sketch. The finished piece will be going into the Heroes Art Auction, which helps keep the con running and allows Shelton to offer such amazing ticket prices. Please come!

Feels like summer…

I finished Dr. Thirteen a couple weeks ago, so since then I’ve been working on getting things in order for convention season. Check the signings link on the left for more info about where I’ll be this summer.

This year, I’ll be part of the Splash Page Art sketchbook, set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con. Splash Page Art is my original art dealer, and home to many other talented artists, including Lee Bermejo, Duncan Fegredo, Marcelo Frusin, Jock, Michael Lark, John Paul Leon, Sean Phillips, Paolo Rivera, Cameron Stewart, Goran Sudzuka, and Eric Wight. We’ll be putting together a special sketchbook for the summer, featuring 3 pieces each from some of the artists in the Splash Page stable. I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on a copy.

Here’s my contribution to the book, in pencil form. I’ll post the inks soon, but here’s a sneak peek.

Splash Page will be selling the originals in the near future, so if you like any of these pieces, be sure to contact Mark Hay at Splash Page. And if you’re at the convention, pick up a copy of the book and get it signed by me and the other guys.

First post!

Welcome! After ignoring the internet for several years, I finally caved in. I’ll post whenever I can, hopefully a few times a week. But really, only when it’s something vaguely interesting. New artwork, sketches, announcements, shaving my head during a coke binge and going into rehab… you’ll find it here first. Promise. But while you’re here, check out the gallery, the original art sales (nudge nudge), or any of the tastemakers to the right.
