Emerald City Comicon 2011 sketches

I’ve been hearing about how great the Emerald City Comicon is for years now, so I was really grateful for the chance to attend this year. Jim Demonakos and his crew have created a truly excellent show that caters to both fans and professionals. The atmosphere is super-friendly, and everyone I spoke with had as wonderful a time as I did. Add to that all the amenities of downtown Seattle, a food-lover’s dream, and you’ve got an incredible event. I really can’t wait to go back.

You always amaze me with the level of quality on these large batches of sketches! They get better with each convention! Was the the Larry Blackmon for Ford?

I hope you’ll return again within the next couple years! I’ll of course hope to get a sketch then and maybe my lady will treat you with a donut as she did her artist of choice!

Hi Cliff!

Thanks for coming to ECCC. I hope you moved a lot of your prints – I bought one of the 7″ Remix packs and I wish I’d bought even more for friends. I have them up at work and people always stop by to talk about them. Thanks as well for being willing to chat for a few minutes about your process and your thoughts on the line between cute sexy girl art and sleazy sexy girl art.

You and I talked about me pursuing getting a sketch from you if I come to NYCC, which I definitely hope to do! I hope the rest of your convention season treats you well, and we see you back at ECCC in the next year or so.

(That Riddler up there is sweeeet)

Wow, thanks everyone! The con sketches can be really tough sometimes, caught in the middle of signing comics and talking to all the great fans (and I still owe a few since I took too many names), but the owner’s reactions and the responses here make it totally worth it.

Ryan – welcome and thanks for the kind words!

Rico – yeah, that’s for Ford. I sat on his book for so long it’s embarrassing, but when I started I had so much fun. Funk musicians + superheroes, brilliant!

John – I’ve heard stories about legendary donuts in Seattle, so bring it on. :)

Taterpie – my pleasure!

CLIFF! I wanted to give you a simple, “Great work as always!”, but that just wouldn’t do! Psylocke and Rogue are awesome of course, and LMAO over Cyclops’ pouches (ah the 90s), but you know me and my sappiness towards “couples” (still mad at DC over that whole BC/GA fiasco or a marriage after all your hard work!). Lois and Clark… brilliant! Hope to see you in Toronto again soon!

Really great crop of sketches, Cliff! I’m really jealous of whomever owns that Jakita Wagner sketch. But, really, even by your own high standards, this is a great group of sketches.

It’s hard to tell which are my favorites, but my heart belongs to Batman and Catwoman so that one is amazing. I also love the Psylocke one. They’re all amazing. Thanks for sharing, Cliff!
