She’s A Maniac
Who doesn’t love Elektra:Assassin? Or Jennifer Beals, for that matter? Originally, this was going to be Elektra on a rooftop with dead ninja at her feet, but luckily I remembered that classic honeymoon suite scene, which allowed me to throw in some more comic references.
This was a blast to draw. After years of brush inking, it was liberating to grab a pen and just mess around. I think the brilliant source material inspired me to experiment and play with the look of the piece, and it turned out to be a great learning experience. I’ve still got a few more ideas for other album covers that I’ll get to soon.
While I’ve got your attention, I should mention my summer convention schedule.
June 6 - Mocca Fest in NYC. I’ll be sketching at the fundraising booth from 1:30-4:00.
June 13 - Big Apple Con in NYC. Free admission! More info in the link.
June 19-21 - Heroescon in Charlotte, NC. I’ll be donating the inked version of the Elektra piece to the art auction.
July 11 - Asian American Comic Con in NYC. The first ever! More info as it arrives…
July 22-27 - San Diego Comic-Con, at Booth #1322 with Jill Thompson, Brian Wood, and a very special guest!
I’ll be sketching, of course, but I’ll also have some original artwork, books, exclusive prints and a special set of postcards. Check out the signings link for more info on the shows and my regular commissioned sketch policy.

I love JB! Very smooth piece, Cliff. I’m looking forward to seeing you again at Heroes. I missed out last year on a sketch (it was my first con and I was clueless. You were so cool to talk with) but I will try my darndest not to let that happen this year! See you there!!

Gonna miss you at MoCCA this time around unfortunately. I can only make it for Sunday. But I am going to SDCC for the first time this year so I’ll be sure to stop by your booth! :)
Btw, I blogged “The hero formerly known as Batgirl” to remind everyone about the festival, hope you don’t mind.

Man, is there any chance to get any of those as wallpapers? That’s some phenomenal stuff. I’d love to see a rendition of Queen’s “Hot Space”.

Are you going to be putting these (and the recent john hughes one) up for sale on Khepri anytime soon?

Very soon! I’ll post about the khepri.com shop once they’re available. It’ll just be the Batgirl & Elektra LP pieces for now, and I’ll have movie poster versions of the other images with me at conventions.
