Working on this last chapter was admittedly bittersweet. Out of the whole creative team, I’ve probably lived with the script and characters longer than anyone. Just drawing a page requires reading and re-reading the script many times, and beyond the dialogue, there’s all the expressions and body language too. So perhaps it’s no surprise that I’ve gotten a little attached to the crew. It’s been an incredibly rewarding creative experience working with Brian Azzarello on these stories, and I hope we get to revisit the cast in the future. I should also mention Trish Mulvihill’s incredible color work on this series, which really brought another level to the artwork. Gorgeous, subtle tones, as well as poppy primary colors all mixed on the page — it’s like she was reading my mind! I’m happy to say that Trish and I will be working together on my next project, which I’ll announce as soon as I’m able. Kudos also to letterer Jared Fletcher, who never missed a beat, even with the deadlines nipping at his heels, and to the steady stewardship of Bob Schreck and Brandon Montclare.
